DEPTFORD CINEMA

Volunteers at Deptford Cinema

Deptford Cinema is being built by the community for the community, as a 40 seat cinema with a darkroom, studio and café/bar. We screen a diverse range of films, from Hollywood blockbusters to short films by local filmmakers and everything in between. The programming of events and films is open to anybody in the community to show the films they want, and thereby become a hub for all things film in Lewisham.

Cinema should be for everybody and that’s the ethos of Deptford Cinema: we provide cheap tickets and even cheaper concession tickets to allow everybody to experience film from the stalls.

Deptford Cinema is a not-for-profit society entirely run by volunteers. All the proceeds from shows and exhibitions are reinvested in the cinema.

Find us at 39 Deptford Broadway, London SE8 4PQ.

DEPTFORD FILM CLUB

Launched in September 2009, Deptford Film Club brings the most interesting, challenging, heart-breaking cinema into where you want to be. No pretensions, no passwords. Just great movies at an affordable price, and in good company.

For most of our life we have screened in a nice friendly room above the Amersham Arms pub, but we’ve recently branched out into a scary crypt, a toddlers’ playcentre, an art gallery, an old town hall, the Deptford Lounge and the open courtyard of the Stephen Lawrence Centre.

Due to other work commitments, Deptford Film Club no longer run regular fortnightly film screening events, but create events whenever the urge grabs us. We also take on commissions.

Deptford Film Club is part of Cinema Forever. Through our work in film programming, event management, training and consultancy, we help develop and manage film clubs, festivals and one-off film screening events.
